Tena Koutou Katoa, nga iwi o te motu.
We are inviting all Maori members to become involved in their FIRST Union Runanga.
Our Kaupapa is to build Maori structures within FIRST Union to tautoko Maori members.
This is your chance to meet other Maori members and delegates, talk about issues which affect you and promote more Maori throughout your union.
Our Vision: Acknowledging and embracing our past, present and future we actively strive to empower Maori, workers and whanau Our Mission: To share our leadership, knowledge and skills for the wellbeing and advancement of Maori, workers and whanau.
Every two years national Maori leaders of FIRST Union are brought together to focus on what it is we stand for as Maori and as unionists. This mahi includes confirmation of Runanga kaupapa and two-year organising plans, hearing from a range of speakers from Te Ao Maori, electing Runanga regional representatives and convenors, and electing FIRST Union's Apiha Maori (a staff position within the union to support the Runanga).
To grow our influence and voice by contacting all Maori-identified FIRST Union members to share our Runanga Kaupapa and Plan.
Have stronger communication, through quarterly Runanga Komiti meetings, Runanga newsletters three times a year for informing and educating on issues for Maori, workers and whanau.
Educating, through Runanga orientation that shares thegoals and kaupapa, by networking with Maori workers and whanau through hui and workshops. By mobilising and taking leadership.
